Chime: 'Making Together Happen'

A successful enterprise functions as a cohesive unit. Each team member performs its role with Swiss-watch like precision to ensure clients are happy, goals are met and competitors are bested. An integral piece to this paradigm is collaboration; the ability to call a team together, and at the click of a mouse participate in a video conference to work through an issue, game-plan for the future or simply touch base on the current status of a project is invaluable.

To that end, CafeX developed Chime, a solution poised to revolutionize business collaboration by bringing the promise of WebRTC to fruition and reduce total cost up to 70 percent. According to CafeX, Chime provides voice and video conferencing and Web chat, as well as document and presentation sharing with ease. True browser-based communication makes collaboration a snap, but according to Vice President and Service Director at Nemertes Research Irwin Lazar, less than five percent of “end-user organizations are using WebRTC.”

Lazar continued, “CafeX Chime offers the ability to overcome the factors that have constrained WebRTC: lack of universal browser support, a universal video codec, network and performance issues, and slow-to-develop standards.” Chime is an RTC communication that sidesteps many of the traditional hurdles, making it a universal solution for real time communications.

President and CEO at CafeX Rami Musallam explained “CafeX is focused on providing companies with real-time engagement solutions that accelerate new service delivery. With Chime, our customers now have access to a disruptive collaboration platform that combines ubiquitous access with an aggressive total cost of ownership paradigm.”

Typically, when a firm deploys a new video conferencing solution, it is not as simple as “plug and play.” For starters, there is additional software to download, that needs to be managed and updated on a continual basis. In addition, a firm must ensure their architecture and network can “mesh” well.

CafeX ensures real-time communication, regardless of browser, with no software to manage or upload. The release promises to reduce video bandwidth usage by up to 75 percent, and optimizes MCU port usage by up to 80 percent. There is no need for changes to the firewall or DMZ.

Musallam noted, “Teams can work together more effectively to respond with speed and agility in the face of ever-increasing market demands.”

The CafeX team is aimed at “making together happen.” I’d say Chime is a rather large step in that direction. With the winds of real time communications in its sails, CafeX has set a course for the next generation of collaboration.
