Tuenti VoIP Service Now Compatible with Web

Tuenti is a social communication platform for the web and mobile sector – and the Spanish-based company has announced some upgrades.

Its Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) service is now compatible with the web – when using a Chrome browser – so “users can make or receive free voice calls on their computer via the Tuenti application,” according to a blog post from Paul Iliffe, the company’s product manager.

In addition, the company’s Android application includes improvements to the voice calling service. The new Version 4.3 features improvements in phone call audio. Calls made using the Tuenti app are “more stable,” the blog post adds.

Also, now Tuenti Móvil customers can make calls using the Tuenti app without using up cell phone data allowances via Zerolímites. That means free voice calls and free navigation of the Tuenti website and app.

To get these improvements, users will need to upgrade to the new version of the company’s Android app. It includes real-time messaging and lets users chat with everyone in their phone book. It works on both a phone and computer. Tuenti allows users to keep content private, as well.

Also, the new voice calling service uses either the Android operating system or the Internet. The company next plans to release an iPhone version. No exact word on when that release will take place.

Tuenti is based in Madrid Spain, and it is the most-trafficked website in Spain. The company has more than 250 employees. A major percentage of the workforce – more than 160 of the employees – is engineers, who work at company locations in either Barcelona or Madrid, Spain.

It is popular, too, at recent count, the company had 6 million monthly mobile users, 40 billion monthly page views, and 400 million chat messages sent a day.
