Dialogic Partners Show Off WebRTC Capabilities at Mobile World Congress

Last week, Dialogic and Tropo announced a partnership to bring PowerMedia XMS’ rich media processing for real-time video with Tropo’s platform, which enables users to build phone and messaging applications and integrate real-time communications to applications. This week, we’re seeing the power of PowerMedia XMS go one step further with demonstrations from five partners at Mobile World Congress.

These Dialogic partners will be showcasing the WebRTC capabilities of the media server this week in Barcelona, including Unisys, APEX Voice Communications, Quobis, Movirtu and Gintel. The companies will showcase capabilities such as incoming and outgoing calls between a mobile phone and WebRTC client, multiparty video conferencing and new service creation.

Dialogic PowerMedia XMS can be used to build a variety of real-time multimedia processing solutions, such as IVR, voice messaging, notification systems, video conferencing and social interaction applications.

The partners will exhibit a variety of uses cases, from contact center solutions, unified communications, mobile telephony and multiparty conferencing.

Unisys (News  - Alert) will showcase how service providers and contact centers can configure and deliver targeted digital content via a variety of data and mobile channels. Its Sponsored Services Suite applied to WebRTC using the Unisys Digital Dialog Manager graphical tool to define visual interactive communications with users. Digital Dialog Manager can also provide two-way communication across digital channels, enable automatic event-based marketing and offer tools for loyalty campaigns.

APEX Voice Communications, a provider of IP communications services and solutions, will be showcasing its ACCESS suite of cloud-based services, which is targeting toward mobile network operators (MNOs) looking to the enterprise market. ACCESS uses WebRTC to mix browser-based participants with SIP soft clients and streaming video.

Quobis is meeting the demand for multiparty video conferencing with its SIPPO Web Communicator, a unified communications client that interworks with SIP-based networks and is WebRTC-enabled. “Built for the web with our telco background knowledge,” SIPPO Web Communicator allows IT managers to deploy Web clients without the hassle of installing any desktop application – the promise of WebRTC in a nutshell.

Movirtu, a provider of virtual SIM solutions for mobile operators, will demonstrate how a WebRTC-based mobile app, Web client and Facebook app can enable mobile operators to use mobile numbers as the principal identity for communication from all connected devices. CloudPhone expands network coverage and enables calls over Wi-Fi, and is based on Movirtu’s Virtual SIM technology, enabling operators to offer multiple virtual mobile numbers to their own subscribers as well as to subscribers on other operators’ networks.

Last but not least, Gintel, a provider of application software for telecom operators and service providers, is exhibiting Easy Virtual PaBX, a mobile and IP Centrex solution that allows operators to deliver Centrex services to mobile and fixed customers. The platform can integrate mobile telephony with hosted unified communications features that can also be accessed via the Web using WebRTC.

“If service providers want to keep up in the race for features and functionality, they can’t afford to wait for service-creation capabilities to be baked into the next iteration of hardware,” said Andrew Goldberg, senior vice president of marketing and strategy for Dialogic, in a statement. “Dialogic software is allowing service providers to move as quickly as app developers in the realms of WebRTC and Diameter to connect subscribers in the ways they want to connect with the media they crave.”

Dialogic is also exhibiting its BorderNet Diameter Services Helix, which brings next-generation service enablement and interworking to 4G, 3G, wireless and broadband networks. It provides Diameter Edge Agent (DEA), interworking (IWF) and Diameter routing (DRA) in a unified solution. With this, Dialogic will show examples of how mobile, Wi-Fi and IPX operators can give customers a seamless roaming experience, rapidly interwork and orchestrate Diameter and non-Diameter services, and enhance and extend policy and charging between networks.
