TMC to Host New SIP Forum WebRTC Interoperability Testing Event

Norwalk, CT—November 13, 2013—Today TMC, Systemwide Media and PKE Consulting announced it will host RTCWeb-it 2, the second WebRTC interoperability testing event produced by the SIP Forum, on Monday, November 18, 2013, at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, California. RTCWeb-it 2 is a unique event for WebRTC implementers to work together with specification authors to improve their code and the specifications.

“The community of industry professionals that are about to converge in Santa Clara for the WebRTC Conference & Expo III makes it an ideal venue for our second RTCWeb interop testing event’” said Marc Robins, SIP Forum President and Managing Director. “We are looking forward to a productive day of testing among key WebRTC implementers and application developers.”

Like the SIPit interoperability testing events, RTCWeb-it 2 will be a technology test event only, and not a product or application showcase, or marketing or networking event for general industry participants.

The goals of RTCWeb-it 2 include:

To debug and produce corrections to the core WebRTC implementations.

To identify possible modifications to the proposed API.

To provide feedback to the Standards Development Organizations (SDOs) responsible for the development of the protocol.

To provide valuable data to the SIP Forum’s WebRTC Task Group as it works to enable deployment of WebRTC for SIP-based domains.

“RTCWeb-it 2 is an important event that will bring together the browser developers and implementers working on the code that makes WebRTC APIs function correctly; application developers that are using the WebRTC API; gateway developers who build systems that bridge WebRTC and SIP; and the editors of the specifications being developed,” said Rich Tehrani, TMC CEO and conference chairman. “The SIP Forum’s first WebRTC interoperability event resulted in corrections to the core implementations and modification of the proposed API, and we’re eager to host the second event and look forward to its resulting, game-changing developments.”

Registration for qualified RTCWeb-it 2 participants is now open. For more information about RTCWeb-it 2, please contact Marc Robins, SIP Forum President and Managing Director, at 203-829-6307.

RTCWeb-it2 is held on conjunction with WebRTC Conference & Expo III, held November 19-21 in Santa Clara, California. The event will have a broader focus on how WebRTC (web-based real-time communications) is set to transform the way we communicate by facilitating true browser-to-browser communications.
